<p>A poorly managed runway in the Bintang Mountains in West Papua, took its toll on Wednesday morning as a Twin Otter airplane operated by Susi Air crashed onto a mountain slope after it attempted to avoid a local resident passing the runway.</p>
<p>	The accident killed copilot Albert Citores Gallego of Spain. Pilot Jessie Becker, a New Zealand national, survived and was in critical condition at a Timika hospital.</p>
<p>	&ldquo;Both were alive when we evacuated them. Albert died on the way to the hospital,&rdquo; National Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas) spokesperson Gagah Prakoso said, adding that the agency had evacuated the aircraft, found dozens of miles from the Supaga airport.</p>
<p>	Susi Air spokesperson Capt. Androyogi said the airplane, which carried food cargo and gasoline from Nabire, was in good condition and the pilots were among the most experienced in the company. There was a person passing the runway at Sugapa Airport when the plane attempted to land, he said.</p>
<p>	&ldquo;The pilot decided to fly back up, but the area was surrounded by mountains and cliffs, making it very difficult to do,&rdquo; Androyogi told The Jakarta Post.</p>
<p>	Androyogi said Becker had been deployed to Papua earlier this year. Becker had also flown with Susi Air in Java, Sumatra and Kalimantan.</p>
<p>	Director general for Air Transport Herry Bhakti said initial investigations confirmed Androyogi&rsquo;s statement. Herry said the airplane had to make an emergency maneuver.</p>
<p>	&ldquo;It takes a very experienced pilot to handle the difficult terrain in Papua &hellip; However, we cannot determine the exact cause of the accident until further investigation,&rdquo; Herry said in a radio interview.</p>
<p>	The crash in the Bintang Mountains was the second deadly accident involving Susi Air in Papua. Susi Air&rsquo;s Cessna 208-B Caravan crashed in September in the mountainous Yahukimo district on its way to Kenyem from Wamena, killing its two foreign pilots.</p>
<p>	Susi Air vowed to thoroughly evaluate the latest incident and to meet with its customers, but would not stop its operations in Papua.&nbsp;</p>
<p>	&ldquo;We don&rsquo;t see Papua as an object for business. Our aircraft carry staple foodstuffs and gasoline for Papuan residents on a daily basis. We can&rsquo;t imagine if we had to leave,&rdquo; he said.</p>
<p>	Aviation expert Chappy Hakim said that no parties could be blamed for the accident before the National Transportation Safety Committee (KNKT) completed its investigation.</p>
<p>	&ldquo;We can evaluate a few things, including the operator, the runway and the pilots &hellip; How a civilian could be on the runway and so on. This way, we will find which party was responsible for the accident,&rdquo; Chappy said.</p>
<p>	Over the past three months, there have been six airplane accidents, including the still missing Cessna belonging to Nusa Flying School. The National Search and Rescue Agency announced it had stopped the aerial search on the seventh day of searching on Tuesday. (swd)</p>

	Negli ultimi anni &egrave; stato anche riconosciuto a livello internazionale: dal giugno 2011 viene nominato Presidente della conferenza del CEO dei service provider europei di CANSO (Associazione di imprese che forniscono i servizi della navigazione aerea in Europa) e a settembre del 2011 la Commissione Europea lo nomina Presidente dell&#39;ATM Management Board con l&#39;unanimit&agrave; da parte delle linee aeree, degli aeroporti, di tutti gli altri service provider europei, nonch&eacute; con il pieno supporto del Comitato per il Cielo Unico Europeo della UE, organo che riunisce i rappresentanti degli Stati e delle aviazioni civili e militari dei paesi membri dell&#39;Unione.</p>

					Le rimostranze dei piloti AOPA a causa delle elevate tariffe praticate dall&#39;aeroporto elbano, sfociate in un articolo apparso sulla rivista Volare lo scorso mese di agosto e rimbalzate sulle cronache locali, hanno ottenuto una pronta e positiva risposta da parte dell&#39;Isola d&#39;Elba.<br />
					Essendo stati chiamati in causa gli operatori turistici e commerciali del territorio, Confcommercio Elba si &egrave; sentita in dovere di invitare i vertici nazionali di AOPA &#8211; l&#39;Associazione italiana dei piloti e proprietari di aerei privati, affiliata all&#39;organizzazione internazionale IAOPA &#8211; per un incontro chiarificatore che gettasse le basi a nuove e proficue aperture nei confronti del mondo dell&#39;aviazione generale.&nbsp;<br />
					Questo &egrave; stato possibile soprattutto grazie ad una inversione di tendenza nelle politiche gestionali dell&#39;Aeroporto della Pila, sfociate nella recente nomina ad Amministratore Unico di Aerelba e di Alatoscana &#8211; rispettivamente propriet&agrave; ed ente gestore dell&#39;aeroporto, facenti capo sostanzialmente alla Regione Toscana, con la partecipazione della Camera di Commercio di Livorno- dell&#39;ing. Claudio Boccardo, il quale ha manifestato nei fatti una concreta volont&agrave; di interazione con il tessuto socio-economico locale, per un&#39;operazione di rilancio della struttura aeroportuale elbana.<br />
					All&#39;incontro, avvenuto sabato 22 ottobre scorso, hanno partecipato il Presidente AOPA Rinaldo Gaspari, il Segretario Generale Massimo Levi, il referente AOPA per l&#39;Elba Alessandro Sirabella, il Dirigente dell&#39;aeroporto Claudio Boccardo, il Presidente di Elbafly Maurizio Furio, la Presidente di ConfcommercioElba Franca Rosso e Christian Martorella per l&#39;Associazione Albergatori.<br />
					Dal summit &egrave; emerso il vivo interesse reciproco per l&#39;avvio di una nuova fase collaborativa, che consenta da una parte ai piloti di aerei privati l&#39;identificazione dell&#39;aeroporto elbano quale scalo e meta preferenziale, e dall&#39;altra alla gestione aeroportuale di poter incrementare i propri flussi interni, producendo nel contempo una positiva ricaduta economica per il comparto turistico e per l&#39;imprenditoria locale.<br />
					Nel concreto, sono state gettate le basi per la realizzazione all&#39;Elba nel prossimo mese di aprile dell&#39;Assemblea annuale dei soci AOPA, che conta ben 800 iscritti, mentre per il mese di settembre 2012 dovrebbe essere organizzato il Regional Meeting &#8211; ossia il convegno internazionale IAOPA &#8211; abbinato ad un &quot;Fly-in&quot; per gli accompagnatori, della durata di alcuni giorni.<br />
					Sar&agrave; inoltre elaborata una convenzione &#8211; valida per tutti i soci AOPA &#8211; con un circuito di strutture alberghiere e ricettive, di attivit&agrave; commerciali, della ristorazione e dei servizi appartenenti alle associazioni di categoria promotrici, che preveda condizioni di favore ed una speciale scontistica ai possessori della Air Crew Card.<br />
					La direzione aeroportuale, da parte sua, ha gi&agrave; effettuato una revisione delle tariffe di sosta previste, che vedranno ulteriori vantaggi per gli iscritti IAOPA, invogliando gli aerei privati a venire con sempre maggiore frequenza sull&#39;isola. L&#39;ing. Boccardo ha illustrato inoltre le prospettive di sviluppo strutturale dell&#39;aeroporto sulle quali sta lavorando, per puntare ad un tangibile rilancio dello scalo, adeguandolo in termini di standard dei servizi e degli impianti. Un ulteriore importante impegno &egrave; stato assunto tra le parti per la soluzione della questione relativa all&#39;alto costo dei carburanti, generato dalle restrittive modalit&agrave; di trasporto che incidono pesantemente sui prezzi di erogazione.<br />
					Elbafly dovrebbe rappresentare il fulcro operativo e di raccordo delle varie iniziative, che possono prevedere la realizzazione di scuole di volo all&#39;Elba, di accordi con gli Aeroclub federati AeCI affiliati ad AOPA, di eventi e raduni aerei, nonch&eacute; la creazione di pacchetti turistici a tema, cio&egrave; legati a soggiorni termali e della salute, ai percorsi minerari, a week-end speciali, e a quant&#39;altro l&#39;isola &egrave; in grado di offrire, soprattutto nei mesi di bassa stagione.<br />
					Dal confronto sono emerse anche altre importanti iniziative, sulle quali &egrave; stata manifestata la ferma volont&agrave; di collaborare, segnando l&#39;avvio di una nuova sinergia tra aviazione generale, aeroporto dell&#39;Isola d&#39;Elba, operatori turistici e imprenditoria locale, con significativi vantaggi per tutti gli attori in causa.</div>
